Precious Metal Oxide Coating
Tiaano offers platinum group of precious metal oxide coatings – with long lifetimes and low operating potentials for service in chlor-alkali membrane cells.
Tiaano’s coating systems are based on a range of nano-structured multi-layers of metal oxides; these include Ru, Ir, Pt, Pd and Ti – offering increased performance over conventional materials by maximizing catalytic phases and surface area interactions. By adding doping agents to the catalysts, we are able to make them more selective and further improve performance.
The developed coating technology allows for very thin layers to be deposited, increasing cost effectiveness. The MMO coated substrate undergoes multiple thermal treatments at elevated temperatures, achieving excellent bonding properties between the mixed metal oxide coating and the substrate.
Features of Anode Coating
- Suitable for all cell technologies like UHDE, CEC, Asahi Glass, Lurgi, ELTECH, etc.
- Handles current densities exceeding 9 kA/m2.
- Excellent stability of the MMO coated titanium anode; improves product purity and reduces maintenance costs.
- Substantially reduces energy consumption.
- Improves product quality and exhibits long life.
- Operates at low voltage.
- Minimizes energy-consuming side reactions.
- Improves tolerance of operational upsets.
Features of Cathode Coating
- Tiaano provides cathode coating for chlorine membrane cells. This platinum-based electrocatalyst delivers the lowest hydrogen over-potential for maximum electrical savings.
- Expected to deliver voltage savings of 280 mV compared to bare nickel cathodes, translating to power savings of 200 DC kW Hr/MT of chlorine. Savings increase with current density.
- Offers excellent wear resistance and long life via a permanent coating, without causing caustic contamination unlike other coatings.
- Performance is only limited by impurities in the caustic circulation system. Tiaano’s coatings resist iron fouling better than other cathode coatings.
- Applicable over various substrates such as mesh, louvers, sheet, punched plate, and screen in all chlorine membrane technologies.
